Notes from the cutting table: the trouble with a perfect trouser.
A trouser is a simple garment until you try to make one that a person will reach for on an ordinary day. The rise has to sit. The crease has to hold without looking as though it has been trying. The pleat, if there is one, has to earn its keep.
We recut the Osu Trouser four times this year. The fourth version is in the collection. The first three are in a box under the table, which is where unsuccessful arguments go.
